Books that help me draw #2
This is a brilliant book by a Rembrandt of the field. Will Eisner was active during the 1940s and 1950s, nad much of the work in this book reflects the period. But has an old-school detective-story look. But the light and shadow! The linework! The layouts! The gesture and motion in each figure! When I was at Sheridan studying animation, they said that the animator was basically acting on paper. Only now, twenty years later, am I coming to understand what that means. Eisner knew.
Anyone thinking comics are good to go as fixed-format ebooks with limited animation and sound has got to deal with the likes of Eisner’s work. You could publish it as still images, but if you’re going to do that, you might as well use PDFs.
