This book is an overview of natural architecture: the vernacular architecture of verious peoples and locations, buildings built by farmers and town-dwellers around the world from materials taken from the earth with little modification.

Chapter 1 looks at the architecture that was practised by our ancestors: tents, adobe buildings, forest longhouses. Chapter 2 looks at healing architecture and healing environments. Chapter 3 looks at vernacular architecture: the architecture of the people of a specific locality, evolved through experience rather than imposed from outside. Chapter 5 looks at cultural identity as expressed through architecture. And Chapter 6 looks at various modern buildings that have been built with thies ideas in mind.

Ultimately, however, Earth To Spirit is a picturebook.... but the word 'picturebook' is an understatement. The book is filled with luminous photographs that bear witness to the beauty of natural and vernacular architecture.
