This book looks at the effects on society of a sudden introduction of designed creatures to be our servants and supporters.

What happens to the building industry when we have tree-buildings that can house and support the people... and that reproduce from seed? What happens to society when people don't need jobs to survive? And is that worse than the long-term effects of not developing them?

The tree-houses in the book are designed to be symbiotic with humans, and will die without residents. Are we ready for buildings that need attention for their survival, so that they can help us survive?
