This four-page introduction is available as a PDF-format file.

Who is Scott Robert Dawson?

I am an artist and writer.

I've worked as a technical writer and illustrator in the computer sector, creating documentation using such programs as FrameMaker, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and Acrobat. I also have experience with printing and colour management. With a three-year Electronics Engineering Technologist diploma, I've also worked on electronics hardware.

So what am I doing with a comic? That's the other side of things. All my life I've drawn. A couple of years ago, Shawn Shepheard saw my introduction to Scaffoldworld and asked me to do a comic for him. These days I'm practising drawing people, and learning to design stories too. I would like to get my story, Scaffold World, out of its plot difficulties and bring its story to a good conclusion.

How do I create a comic?

I draw the comic in pencil, then I ink the drawings, scan them, add colours in Photoshop, and then go on to build the final books for print or download. More details about my production process.

What am I looking for?

I am looking for $3000 in support over the summer, paying the production costs of the book and the associated perks, plus my rent and living expenses. This campaign will fund production, printing and shipping of the first copies of the book. At the end, the book will be available for purchase online. More details about my expected expenses.

What can you get?

I'm offering various perks. They include bookmarks, postcards, copies of the book itself, and, on a special limited-edition basis, customized books for a few people. More details about the perks.

What other ways can you help?

If you can't donate directly, there are other ways you can help:

  • Translate! I'm looking for help polishing my text, especially the French.
  • Let people know! Tell others who might be interested about the comic!
  • Share! Link to my project on social media and beyond.
